My Shiba Inu Puppy Seems To Be Afraid Of People
Most common questions about Shiba Inu behavior. my 6 month shiba inu barks at people when he sees them and sometimes gets really happy/excited. Today he barked at the mailman aggressively and it was pretty embarrassing. I've socialized him as a puppy: took him on walks, met new people and dogs etc.
My shiba inu puppy seems to be afraid of people. i just got my shiba inu about 3 days ago and she is currently about 11-12weeks old. the originaly breeder never interacted with the puppies and just left them in the garage. the vets told me she just takes time adjusting but it seems like she is scared of EVERYTHING. she just recently got used to me so if nobody is around like at 2am, i can walk her and everything just fine. but once she sees. So. my puppy is pretty destructive (he ate 3 cell phones, 3 PS3 controllers, and a door frame) so we started to crate train him. He seems okay untill we leave. He somehow found a way to bend the bars on the cage and escape. So we used zip ties to reinforce the cage and he cant get out. But today I notices that he has chipped his teeth attempting to get out! Ask people to give your puppy a treat. Give treats with lots of praise in situations where you see your puppy is a little unsure. Carry a favorite toy with you and play squeaky toys or tug of war. This helps a puppy feel more comfortable. It is important to be upbeat and excited about new things and encourage your puppy to feel the same way. The Shiba Inu needs a home with a fenced yard. The Shiba Inu can be aggressive with other dogs and he will chase small animals he perceives as prey. The Shiba Inu tends to be possessive about his toys, food, and turf. To get a healthy dog, never buy a puppy from an irresponsible breeder, puppy mill, or pet store.
Isn't it great that your puppy get along with people and other dogs. Again, it's a Shiba Inu's thing: "no hands on top of my head, please!" LOL. I didn't bring Toby to the dog's park until he's eight months old because of waiting for shots complete and neutering in order to get a dog license. If you’ve done some research on the Shiba Inu breed, one thing you’ve certainly heard and read over and over is how hard they are to train.. I’ve done my share of breed education, both online and at special events such as Pet Expo and Meet the Breeds, and, yes, I do tell people Shibas "can be difficult to train," "aren’t recommended for first time dog owners," are "too smart for. Shiba Inu anxiety issues can be difficult to handle – to both the dog and the owner. Shiba Inus with anxiety experience stress due to their fears. These sometimes irrational fears can lead to unsafe behaviors such as running away, and / or bodily harm due to excessive scratching, clawing, or biting. Breed clubs are their own worst enemies sometimes, and I have just had a depressing exchange with the Shiba Inu Club of Great Britian in response to an enquiry about atopic dermatitis, or atopy, in the breed. I was recently contacted by pet owner Delia Mills whose Shiba Inu puppy, Bracken, started to itch a few days after bringing her home.
Many new Shiba Inu owners mistakenly get caught up in all the joys - and responsibilities of being a new Shiba Inu parent - without taking enough time for socialization and obedience training. There is basically a “sweet spot” between two months old to four months in a Shiba Inu puppy’s life that you need to get as much socialization and desensitization training as possible. My dog is a 2 year old male Yorkshire Terrier. My dad got him as a birthday gift for my then 10 year old sister. My parents don't even like dogs and my sister wasn't old enough to take care of him. I was 17 then and didn't know anything about dogs. Needless to say, he didn't get the care he needed. My husky’s name is Shania. She is a major sweetheart and much much easier than my Shiba Inu. She has more energy than my Shiba, so she needs more exercise, but temperament wise she is just great. She loves being with people, she likes being petted, hugged, and whatever else. And she is well behaved at the vet. 🙂 Don't be afraid to stand in front of your dog and tell people to stop if they want to bombard her because "She's so cute!" Your job is to make her feel safe and confident and while people love to pet puppies, it's not worth her backsliding on her progress. Also, use lots of great treats. I find pieces of chicken works best for my dog.
I have another problem with my 6 month old male shiba inu. Most of the time I think that I overreact to every little thing. I want so bad for him to be happy and healthy. For the last week my shiba inu has been sneezing alot and very hard…everything else about his health seems fine…he is eating, drinking, peeing and pooping normally. General consensus says a dog should be able to lie down, turn around and stand comfortably. But not too much larger than that. It also depends on how long the pup will be crated at any one time. About ten years ago, I stopped using crates and swit... I'm almost certain this isn't training issues on my part, since a while back ago, a friend was living with me and I mainly helped raise a black and tan puppy. She seems almost perfect in every way to us and that caused me to get a Shiba of my own in the first place. Any thoughts or advice on what to do would be appreciated. There is a special term called the “Shiba scream”. Trust me, people were not kidding around when they made up a special term for this. It’s like nothing you’ve ever heard. When we lived in an apartment, we were afraid dog control would show up when we brought out Kuma’s nail clippers. Anyway.
