Although puppies are little bundles of energy, they usually sleep 18-20 hours a day. One minute your puppy may be a miniature tornado, and the next he’s fallen soundly asleep, almost mid-dash.

My labrador puppy sleeps a lot. I recently picked up a dog from a breeder, he was her son's pet but doesn't get much attention and gets picked on by the alpha male lab on the farm. He is almost 2 and is a Labrador Retriever. I am wondering if it is normal that he sleeps a lot. I walk him for about 20 min in the am, gone for 9 hours to work, walk a power walk for 30 min, maybe more if its nice out or just hang outside till. We’ll show you what to expect from your puppy at this age, and you can check out our 9 week old Labrador puppy video. You’ll also find a 9 week old puppy schedule and lots of great tips to help you care for your new puppy. If you’d like some extra help with training, you can have my Training Tips delivered by email. At 2 months of age my now 75 lb dog ate around 2 cups, and later 3 1/2- 4 cups by 4 months I believe. As a Labrador, your puppy will likely be a litter smaller, but metabolisms vary and the recommended feeding amounts are simply recommendations. As I write this, my dog is napping next to me. Every once in a while, she'll twitch in her sleep; her eyes, nose, lips, and feet moving as if she is dreaming about chasing something.

Other reasons why your Labrador puppy might be sleeping a lot. Even though it is normal for a Labrador puppy to sleep a lot, it could still be the case that there are other reasons for it sleeping a lot. Additionally, if it is more than 16 weeks old, it should be starting to sleep much less than it used to. On an average basis, a dog can sleep 12-14 hours a day. If your dog sleeps more than that, there could be many reasons why your dog is sleeping a lot. Here find out the best reasons why they are sleeping a lot. Getting a new puppy is, to many of us, as exciting and joyful as bringing home a new baby. We watch the puppy’s every move, reveling in this amazing little creature’s antics (and cuteness!), and are entranced with her even when she sleeps, her little legs twitching in her first doggie dream in her new home. But wait. My puppy sleeps a lot..? Is it normal for my 8week old puppy t o sleep a lot..? She sleeps through the night unless she has to go potty..she does it on her own though she goes on training pads..then she'll play around in the morning, eat, drink etc. but then she wan'ts too sleep again! xD And she whines and wants...

This is a tough one. Training a dog to sleep through the night usually takes some patience and will power. I’ll tell you what I did with my labradoodle when we first got him. We crated him at night (otherwise he would be wandering around getting i... Below are some possible reasons why your Labrador sleeps a lot and what would make them more likely. Nature. The cause of your Labrador sleeping a lot is likely to be because it does it naturally. It is natural for a large dog like a Labrador to sleep for 12-14 hours per day . If your Labrador is a puppy or it is old then it will likely sleep. Puppies sleeping a lot isn't cause for concern. Puppy sleep hours can range from 18 to 20 a day, versus the 14 hours of daily sleep by an adult dog. This is because puppies are growing and they need their rest. Puppies Use a Lot of Energy. Puppies need more sleep than adult dogs because they have a lot going on in their lives. If you are lucky, your puppy may be able to make it through the night during this stage. For puppies, catnaps have gone to the dogs, because young dogs need 18 to 20 hours of sleep per day to rest their developing brains. Behavior Changes. Your puppy already knows how to do all of the important stuff: eat, drink, poop, sleep and, of course, play.

How much sleep your puppy needs may differ from breed to breed. On average, puppy sleeping habits include about seventeen hours of sleep in a day. Puppies can sleep anywhere between sixteen to twenty hours. Is your puppy sleeping too much? If you feel your puppy is sleeping too much, well beyond their twenty hours, you may need to take them to. Age plays a big part in how much a dog sleeps, too. For example, a puppy tends to sleep up to 16 to 18 hours a day, since growing up takes up a lot of energy. Older dogs spend almost the same. Another reason you may find your dog sleeping a lot is because there is little else for them to do. Dogs don’t have TV or Facebook to occupy them in moments of boredom, so they’ll sleep instead. This is why you’ll typically find working dogs sleep less than their domestic counterparts, as they are stimulated for more time during the day. She sleeps a lot on and off during the day (my toddler and her play fetch a lot so they both tire each other out, along with that they have tea parties etc).. My 5 month Labrador sleeps almost the entire day (about 1.5 hours of excercise per a day) but when she is wide awake she still doesn’t seem very playful.. My puppy sleeps alwell.
