Our Black Lab Puppy Acts Like He S Starving
We have a 9 week old black lab puppy who LOVES to eat. We feed her 3 times a day, a heaping 1/3 cup (based on recommendations on Blue Diamond dog food bag). However, every time she eats it's like it is the first time she has ever seen food in her life and she just scarfs it down in a very short amount of time.
Our black lab puppy acts like he s starving. Dog eats but is starving to death Maggie is a 4 year old yellow lab, after dragging home some animal bones which was taken from her,she got sick.( we don't know if these bones had anything to do with it.)Maggie originally was throwing up,diarrhea, lethargic, she has been to vet several times ,been wormed, checked to see if large intestine and small were functioning properly,we have bought. Other canine behaviorists link big dog appetites to biology, suggesting that dogs are simply listening to their gut, just like their wild cousins. Food is a limited resource, so when you can get to it, you shouldn’t stop eating because you never know if it will be your last meal for days. My laboratory is always hungry. She has been from the puppy stage. This is our third black lab and this dog is different. She sweet, loving, is a good dog in training but steals food off of kitchen counters, dining tables and out of our hands. No amount of training has For this has helped. We feel so bad for her. She is always searching for food. It's actually about my neighbors dog who comes over to play with my lab. Even though he's eaten before coming here he acts like he's starving & will eat my dogs food. My husband was watching the dogs two days ago & when Jag came over he ate my dogs food and my husband thought he was hungry & refilled the bowl two more times.
I have a 12.5 year old black lab who has been the absolute best dog I have ever owned. In the last few months, he acts like he is depressed. He sleeps alot and has very little interest in anything but sleeping. He licks his front paws and then coughed like he is clearing his throat. I can tell he is getting weaker in the his hind quarters. He acts like he’s always starving. We do not give him people food we only give him dog food. The crazy thing is he will let his dog food sit there in the bowl for hours sometimes a day but goes crazy when he sees us eating something. He always tries to take our food but acts like he doesn’t want to eat his dog food. Our lab often eats grass and then vomits what looks like bile. This has been happening since we first got her. She sometimes also vomits white foam. Yes, she does inhale her food and it seems like she's always hungry. Our vet says there is nothing wrong with her. Also, we do not give her bones. Many dogs act as though their stomachs are bottomless; feed them their whole meal and they will follow you around looking for scraps. While this is a plus for positive reinforcement training, it’s hard to not wonder why your dog acts like he is starving all the time. But is there even an answer to the question? A Veterinarian and Dog Trainer weigh in below with some possible explanations for.

We've had our puppy (now 9 weeks old) Bender for 2 weeks now, and he constantly seems (or acts) starving when it comes time to eat. We have him on a feeding schedule of 1/2 cup 3X day, 7:00am, 12:30pm, and 6:00pm, and use puppy food as treats throughout the day for training. If your Lab is full of energy and charging around like a puppy there is probably no immediate need to rush your dog off to the hospital. Or even if he seems just a little bit reserved. You dog might just not be hungry. Or bored with his food. Maybe he moved around less and doesn’t need his usual amount of food. Jack is, undeniably, “my” dog; while I half-heartedly scold him for his recalcitrance towards his other owner, I secretly revel in the exclusivity of our little club. I don’t want to lose Jack.
So, we feed our 9 week old puppy a 1/2 cup of food 3 times a day of Purina Pro puppy food. I personally feel like a half cup is a lot of food for 3 times a day but my puppy eats his food in about 1 minute and is still hungry afterwards. My mom's dog has developed some symptoms of Cushing's Disease, but we haven't confirmed anything yet. He drinks more, loses control of his bladder (though not quite as often since she switched his food), he eats like he's starving, he gets spells when he gets really hyper, and he's become very aggressive towards our cats over the past few months. He’s very small and playful, gets under me or my son and goes to sleep. He eats like he is starving. He drinks water , almond milk , and pet milk for baby puppies. He act as though he’s older than I was told . He just acts as though he’s always cold and always hungry . He just doesn’t seem to be getting any bigger. If your pooch is having difficulty walking, he’s in pain and should see a vet, alerts Vernaleken.
