My neighbor has a Labrador (no more a puppy) which I started to take for walks. The only problem is that he pulls my arm out of the socket. Even after a long walk >2 hrs. he still pulls or gets it in.
My lab puppy hates walks. Some dogs hate wet grass and others love it or don't mind. I have one of each. My lab mix loves wet stuff if it's not too wet, while my bull mix would rather not get his paws wet. We call him Mr Prissy. Your dog seems to be one of the kind that doesn't care for wet feet. My puppy HATES WALKS! HELP.?. Hopefully, if she is motivated by food (I have a Lab, so they will do anything for kibble!), she will begin to realize if I am good, I will get a treat. So also treat her when she is walking beside you or at least not pulling. When she returns to you, you can say "yes" then feed the treat. The yes is kinda like. Properly used, the dog crate is a marvelous training and management tool. Improperly used, it can be a disaster. Overcrating, traumatic, or stimulating experiences while crated, improper introduction to the crate, and isolation or separation anxieties are the primary causes of crating disasters. Take my own dog, Nemo, as an example. He’s a puller on walks. He likes to go now, go fast, and go far. Logically, it would be much easier and more pleasant for him to walk on a slack leash. A tight leash is (1) a lot of work for the dog – he’s constantly pulling and (2) pretty uncomfortable – the leash is pushing against his trachea and.

Help please, my 7 month old yellow lab bites me all the time, but he only bites me, he doesn’t bite any other member of my family or strangers. With strangers he’s a little angle. But with me, even I’m sitting there gently stroking him and he’s all came one minute, next minute my arms in his mouth. This causes my Lab to put him down to the ground harder than normal. I don’t think the Lab would bite the puppy but the puppy doesn’t seem to care that the Lab is getting aggravated. When the puppy is in this mood he just keeps on going for the Lab and even us sometimes. Biting our pants legs and tugging and I guess even growling.

This is a great idea, thanks everyone - she definitely perks up when other dogs are in the vicinity. My girlfriend and I just got a 12 week old Schnauzer puppy and we have one problem, she does not want to follow us around the house. We try to walk around the house with her on a short leash, but as soon as the leash is taut she digs in and won’t move, we then feel the need to ignore her, and once she relaxes we bait her with treats to come. My husband just tried to walk him, and the puppy was so upset that he threw up! Please help. My husband eventually wants him to be a bird dog! Thank you, Kristina Harris. I ended up just sitting him in the yard with the lead on until he seconded to actually move around.. Proud owner of a basset, lab, tortoise, and hamster.
Leash-Training Troubleshooting. Even though your puppy may be learning to walk on a leash very nicely, you’re likely to run into some issues as he gets older, goes new places, and experiences. Do not buy a collar that your puppy will grow into, buy one in a size that’s made for a puppy. Otherwise it will be too heavy and uncomfortable. Choose a small, lightweight collar. The lighter it is, the easier it will be to get used to. Choose a wide, flat collar and not a thin round one. Thin and round will be lighter but the wider it is. By the time your dog is ready to go out on walks, between months 3 and 6, it’s also a good window to start obedience training. Start with basic commands such as “sit,” “stay,” “come,” “heel,” and “down,” and make sure everyone doing the training is consistent, using the same words and gestures. My lab puppy has just been able to go for walks, on his first walk we didn't get far at all with him trying to go back home every few minutes. We have an older lab as well so for his second walk we took them both together the puppy was slightly better and managed to follow him, (even though this took a long time and he did keep stopping).
