My Lab Puppy Bites Hard

I have a 11 week old husky puppy, and wow does she bite a lot and hard. I’ve noticed she bites my boyfriend a lot more (I am doing all the training with her so she probably sees me as dominant) but still it’s an issue. I will try this out, as yelping only made her bite harder. She thinks biting us is more exciting since we react to it.

My lab puppy bites hard. If one puppy bites another puppy too hard, the hurt pup will give a high pitched yelp and go a bit limp. The biting pup should immediately back off. If the biting pup persists with biting too hard, the one being bitten will refuse to play with the biter. My puppy is biting hard.. If two pups are tussling, and one bites down too hard, the other puppy yelps loudly. This startling sound usually causes the offending party to let go. The play stops for a few minutes, as the first pup nurses his wounded ego. Play then resumes, but with less brutality. This also happens with the pup’s interaction with their mom. Never hit a puppy that bites. And don’t bite back. Instead, when to stop puppy nipping, if your puppy gets too rough, stop playtime and walk away. Your puppy should quickly learn that you will ignore him if he misbehaves. If you’re struggling with this issue, avoid rough play. You also should skip play biting. Say No Without Punishing Your Labrador Puppy. Let your Labrador know that biting and nipping is not acceptable behavior. Say him no firmly but avoid punishing him. When your Lab bites you, pull your hand away and shout “no.” Then, walk away from your Lab and ignore him even when he runs after you.

A puppy or dog who hasn’t learned bite inhibition with people doesn’t recognize the sensitivity of human skin, and so he bites too hard, even in play. Some behaviorists and trainers believe that a dog who has learned to use his mouth gently when interacting with people will be less likely to bite hard and break skin if he ever bites someone. Allow Soft Bites. While dogs do need to learn when they're biting too hard, this shouldn't be done on your hand. They should learn this in other ways, like with a chew toy. Allowing your dog to wrap their teeth around your hand will only cause confusion. You're trying to get them to stop biting altogether. You want your puppy to have the greatest bite inhibition possible. Baby teeth are only in the mouth for a short time, and start falling out about 18 weeks of age, depending on the breed. Puppy bites are painful, but really only do superficial damage. Pups can get lots of feedback on how hard they are biting without doing serious harm.
